About
I am a paper artist based on the north-east coast of England. I work with unwanted books and paper, using traditional craft techniques such as origami, weaving and quilting, to explore ideas of place and identity, time passing and community.

Before I became a maker, I worked in higher education, as an archivist, a historian, and as a policy-maker. It was a career immersed in paper, words and books. Now, as an artist, my chosen materials continue to be paper and books, and my work frequently references words and stories.

In 2021, I was selected to be the first artist to exhibit in the new Hills Arts Centre in Sunderland, and was commissioned by Durham Cathedral to respond to Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon installation. In 2022, I was artist-in-residence at Seventeen Nineteen in Sunderland, and in 2023 my work featured in Spin Me A Yarn: Ellie Clewlow, David Hockney and Deborah Snell at Gallagher and Turner gallery in Newcastle. In my 2025 solo exhibition, Textilis, I explored place and the power of making, manipulating paper as a textile to explore stories of class and of sustainability in post-industrial communities. I was also selected to be part of the first Great Northern Contemporary Craft and Art Fair in Newcastle.

My work has been selected for group shows at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts, ARC Stockton, Arts Centre Washington, Newcastle Arts Centre, Pineapple Black, Tutton and Young's Atelier by the Sea, and the Old Parcels Office Scarborough.

My latest work, This Sundered Land, can be seen in February 2026 at the Old Parcels Office in Scarborough.
